Male Convict Bear
Say Hello to George, our male bear, and the first in our Convict Bear collection. George sits 25cm tall and is 33cm overall. He is manufactured from soft beige fur, with luxurious suedette on all pads. He has black hand sewn stitching for his nose and mouth, and is dressed in full convict garb, consistent with the period, including a "chain gang" cap. His clothing is emblazoned with the traditional "Broad Arrows", a symbol used by the Government of the day to distinguish him from the early free settlers and the emancipated convicts.

plus postage Increasingly Australians are researching their family histories, and many are finding that they are descended from one or more of the 164,000 convicts sent to our shores between 1788 and 1868 - this figure was made up of 83% male convicts (approx. 136,000) & 17% female convicts (approx. 28,000). Could you 'bear' not to have a convict in your past? |
