This is Charlotte, the second bear in our Convict Bear collection. Charlotte sits 25cm tall and is 33cm overall. She is made from soft beige fur, with luxurious suedette to all pads. She has black hand sewn stitching for her nose and mouth, and is dressed in a frock and pinafore, with matching scullery cap, as per the period which she depicts. Increasingly Australians are researching their family histories, and many are finding that they are descended from one or more of the 164,000 convicts sent to our shores between 1788 and 1868 - this figure was made up of 83% male convicts ( approx. 136,000) & 17% female convicts ( approx. 28,000).
