The Australian Defence Forces, with their traditions firmly anchored to the values of the First AIF, have developed into an elite, modern multi-skilled force, capable of effectively operating in any terrain or part of the world. Australia’s multi-skilled personnel are the envy of other nations and are among the first requested for service due to their well-documented reputation for skill, adaptability and no nonsense attitude.  Their ability to engender trust and confidence from the civilian population also assists in the remarkable success rate of Australian Defence Force operations.  The Australian population are justly proud of their Defence Forces and their achievements, and regard them as effective ambassadors and representatives displaying the best Australian traditions of courage mateship and fair play

DPDU

Disruptive Pattern Desert Uniform (DPDU) was designed and adapted for use by Australian troops serving in fields of operation such as Afghanistan and Iraq, where the modified colours of this clothing more closely resemble the desert terrain colours.  The original design was initially issued to SAS troops deployed to Afghanistan, but has been the subject of ongoing colour modification dependant on the terrain.  This uniform with its colour combinations of brown, grey, pale blue and purple on a yellow background is current issue to ADF personnel serving in desert regions overseas.
