Digger Bear™ - DPCU (He's in Auscam uniform)
Limited Edition - 5000 Bears only Digger Bear™ - DPCU is a new release for 2008, and was designed and developed following requests from numerous members of the Australian Defence Force, to create a bear wearing the current everyday uniform.
"Digger Bear™ - DPCU" (DPCU means Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform) - is a plush tan coloured bear with jointed limbs and overall he measures approx. 39cm - and of course he is dressed in camouflage uniform, with bush hat. (This camouflage is colloquially known as "Aus Cam" among other things). "Digger Bear™ - DPCU" has been manufactured to our usual high standards, and again as indicative of our other bears, the ear-tag he wears summarises the theme of the bear.

"Digger Bear™ - DPCU" serves to highlight the achievements and qualities of our Defence personnel in an accessible way. As with Digger Bear™ (WW1), Jack tar, Digger Bear™ - Vietnam, and also RAAF Bear, "Digger Bear™ - DPCU" was developed to recognise and perpetuate the contributions of Australian Defence Force personnel, Servicemen and Women alike. Again, considerable time was expended researching the details for the finished product, resulting in another high quality collectable product.*********************** All bears come in fantastic clear presentation boxes, making them great for collectors wishing to protect but still display their bears, or for those desiring a quality and special gift with that touch of something different.
************************ "Digger Bear™ - DPCU" comes complete with the following historic information on his ear-tag: ************************** TODAY'S DIGGERS The Australian Defence Forces, with their traditions firmly anchored to the values of the First AIF, have developed into an elite, modern multi-skilled force, capable of effectively operating in any terrain or part of the world. Australia’s multi-skilled personnel are the envy of other nations and are among the first requested for service due to their well-documented reputation for skill, adaptability and no nonsense attitude. Their ability to engender trust and confidence from the civilian population also assists in the remarkable success rate of Australian Defence Force operations. The Australian population are justly proud of their Defence Forces and their achievements, and regard them as effective ambassadors and representatives displaying the best Australian traditions of courage mateship and fair play. DPCU The Australian Army introduced Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU – colloquially known as Auscam) after trials in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. The standard DPCU provides camouflage to personnel operating in tropical jungle or arid Australian bushland, and is issued ADF-wide as the regular working uniform as distinct from the more traditional dress uniform. The cut of the uniform is also more accommodating for the comfort and safety of field personnel, and well suited to the conditions experienced by ADF personnel whilst serving in East Timor.
